Introducing Papers Online: Collaborate, Share, Discover

  • Save interesting articles to your personal online reading list.
    • You can add to your reading list using Papers for Mac, iOS or Windows, the web interface at online.papersapp.com, and soon with our upcoming browser plugins.
  • Create and manage collections that you can share with whomever you want.
    • You and your collaborators can access shared collections in Papers for Mac, iOS and Windows, or online at online.papersapp.com

Improved Synchronization

  • We've built a new synchronization experience for syncing your library with Dropbox. Enjoy lower bandwidth use, more reliable syncing, and no more "lockfile" messages.
    • After installing this update, syncing with iOS will require Papers 3 for iOS version 3.2.0 or higher, available from the App Store.
    • After installing this update, syncing with Windows will require Papers for Windows 3.0 or higher, available from papersapp.com/windows.

AppleScript Support

Updated Appearance

  • We've updated the look and feel of the app to improve readability and to feel more at home on your Mac.

Linking to Articles in Annotations

Automate tasks and fetch and manipulate data in your Papers library by using

  • Universal Citekeys added to PDF notes now link to those papers in your library, or searches if you don't already have them.
  • Typing a "{" character offers suggestions for Citekeys to insert.

Performance & Usability Fixes

  • Fixes a crash that could affect the app when importing or synchronising large amounts of data.
  • Fixes a rare crash when viewing papers with no associated type metadata (paper, book, etc).
  • Fixes a rare crash when attempting to open corrupt PDFs in Papers.
  • Citations launches significantly faster.
  • Fixes an issue whereby updating the app would fail when using Papers with OSX 10.10 (Yosemite) Developer Preview releases.
  • More reliable matching when using the New York Times search engine.
  • Improves PubMed search when searching for longer titles.
  • Addresses a bug causing authors to not be added (and existing authors to be removed) when merging with PubMed metadata on import or matching.
  • Fixes an issue with importing papers from the "Related articles" view into your library.
  • Fixes an issue that caused imported PDFs from pinned search results to not be added to the user's library.
  • Fixes an issue whereby book records would get presented with incorrect inspector fields.
  • Improves identifying libraries in the library selection sheet after holding ⌥ at launch.
  • Resolves inability to select certain libraries.
  • Addresses an issue that caused PDFs and annotations to not be imported to the library when importing a Papers Archive file.
  • Addresses a rare case where Dropbox synchronization settings were not up-to-date in the Papers → Sync menu options.
